Ylang ylang belongs to the Annonaceae family and is a subtropical plant with a tree height of up to six feet. It mainly grows in
regions including Java, Sumatra, Reunion Island, Madagascar and the Philippines.
The beautiful ylang ylang flowers bloom from May to November every year. The flowers hangs and sways with beauty and grace,
and is known as the "flower among flowers". It has a rich, sweet aroma hence it's nickname the "perfume tree".
Different varieties of ylang-ylang have pink, blue-violet or bright yellow flowers, but the essential oil extracted from the yellow
variety has the best quality and are the most fragrant.
Women in the South China Sea area traditionally use ylang-ylang essential oil mixed with coconut oil to maintain their hair,
improving shine. Because of its romantic scent, the people of Indonesia have a very lovely tradition of placing ylang-ylang
petals all over the bed of newlyweds.
Ylang ylang essential oil is suitable to care for the skin, body and mind. It is also suitable as a fixative for blending essential oils.
Usage : face, body, hair, bath, vapouriser and diffuser
How to use : Face : add 1 drop of essential oil to 10-15 of carrier oil and apply to the face
Body : blend 1 part of essential oil to 5 parts of carrier oil and gently massage the
chest : breast, abdomen/ tummy, groin region, or all over body.
Hair : blend 1 part of essential oil to 5 parts of carrier oil or hair mask, use to condition hair then rinse off
Bathing : add a few drops to bath water
Blends well with : jasmin, sandalwood, lemon balm, bitter orange, and palm rose essential oil for synergistic effects.
