About the product

Bush with hairy leaves, perennial shrub herbaceous plant of the family Lamiaceae, genus pogostemon patchouli. The plant can reach a height of 91 cm and requires very fertile soil. It is produced in India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Paraguay and China, and has been long used in Chinese medicine.

The essential oil is extracted from the leaves which undergoes drying and fermentation before distillation. The extracted essential oil contains unique patchouli and pine scents. It is a strongly scented oil, and intensifies over time. Therefore, it is highly valued as a fragrance fixative when blending essential oils or high-end perfumes.

Patchouli essential oil is a thick liquid with a dark brown colour and a calm earthy scent, like soil mixed with a musky sweetness. It has a mysterious oriental aroma, and when applied to the skin, the body heat will slowly change the smell of the oil.

The essential oils have aggregation characteristics and are effective in maintaining skin firmness and lightness. It is also a popular oil for use on social occassions, as it can freshen aroma and clean breath, deodourises and be used in abdominal care.

Due to its high content of patchouli, it is very similar to the azure hydrocarbon in chamomile, and both can be used support skin sensitivity caused by dryness.

 

Usage : face, body, bathing, vapouriser, diffuser

 

How to use : Face : add a drop to pre-blended floral facial oil

                      Body : can be used directly in areas of discomfort, or add to other essential oils and rub on the head, chest,

                                  abdomen, thighs or legs

                      Bath : use 1-2 drops to bath water along with other relaxation type essential oils

                      Bugs and insects : add a few drops to cotton ball or sachet, and place in wardrobes to prevent insect damage to clothes

Blends well with : ylang-ylang, sandalwood, rosewood, fennel, grapefruit, lavender, cypress, and geranium essential oils for

                              synergistic effects
