About the product

Zingiber officinale, a plant of the Zingiberaceae family, is native to India, China and Java. It spread to Europe through spice trade

in the Middle Ages, and was then spread to South America by the Spaniards.

Today, most tropical countries, including the West Indies and Africa, regard ginger as an important crop.

Ginger has both medicinal and culinary uses. According to traditional Chinese medicine, whenever the body is invaded by 'moisture' (regardless of whether the moisture comes from inside or outside the body), ginger can be used to warm the body and dispel cold.

It has a place in the pharmacopoeias of ancient Greece and Arabia, who view dried ginger as an aromatic energising herb that can be used to help combat diseases. In India, ginger tea is sometimes drank after meals as a digestif.

Ginger essential oils can be obtained by steam distilling the roots of ginger. The essential oils have a rich, refreshing and fiery aroma that can warm the heart. The extracted oils are very concentrated, just a few drops is enough to unleash the energy of ginger.
