Geraniaceae, genus Geranium, is a perennial herbaceous plant produced in Reunion Island, an overseas department/ region of France.

This radiant island is located in the Southwest Indian Ocean. Its original name was Bourbon Island, which is also the origin of the name Bourbon Geranium.

The climate on the island is mild and cool, with temperatures ranging from 20 to 26 degrees celsius throughout the year. It is very suitable for the growth of geraniums and the extraction of essential oils.
