About the product

Melissa is a perennial herbaceous plant of the Lamiaceae family, with a plant height of about 60 cm. It is native to the temperate regions of the Middle East and later spread throughout Asia and Mediterranean countries. France nowadays is the largest producer.

Melissa prefer iron-rich soil, which may be the reason for it's radiant colours - it has small, serrated leaves with downy hairs. It is fragrant with a hint of lemon. The yellow and white flowers emitts a strong aroma before they bloom in early Summer, attracting bees hence it's name - Melissa is the Greek word for "bee".

The flowers and leaves of Melissa can produce a richly scented essential oil. In early Summer of every year, harvest workers must pick

and distill the plant before it fully blooms. The water content of these plants is unusually high, yet the content of essential oil is small. Therefore it takes a lot of plants to extract a limited amount of essential oil.

Melissa essential oil has a honey-lemon-like aroma. It can help with relaxation and optimism, easing sensitive and restless moods, increase focus and positive energy. Its gentle and effective nourishing power can calm breathing, relieve stress. It is said to be the "panacea for life" when it comes to stress induced chest tightness and strengthens the heart and soul.

It is also a good oil for the abdomen. It can be rubbed on the abdomen after meals to benefit digestion. It is also an essential oils favoured by women with it's soothing effects. It is also suitable for newlyweds or those who have been married for many years.

During seasonal changes, melissa essential oil can be used to help protect against ailments. It can be used by itself or in conjunction

with essential oils such as eucalyptus radiata (or similar) to jointly maintain health and enhance self-protection.

Melissa essential oil contains "geranol", which has the function of protecting the skin. It can be used to support imperfection or

sensitive skin. It can also be used to cleanse oily hair, adding vitality, and is indispensable oil for scalp health.

How to use : Body : blend with a carrier oil in 1:1 ratio and use on chest, abdomen, lower abdomen

                      Skin : Add 1 drop to imperfect skin, for rashes can consider mixing with a light lotion

                      Hair : add 1 drop to a suitable amount of shampoo and cleanse hair as per normal

                      Breathing : add 2 drops to 200 ml of warm/ hot water (not boiling, take care when handling hot water) and

                                          inhale then exhale the steam for approximately 5 minutes.

Blends well with : sandalwood, neroli, marjoram, roman chamomile, aline lavender, clary sage, fennel, eucalyptus radiata,

                               ylang-ylang for synergistic effects
